The Baltic Sea, the heart of region, is one most polluted seas worldwide. For countries relative importance Sea varies, but all coastal states use sea and influence it through their manifold activities. protection therefore a shared concern for states. This has led to emergence specific international legal régime governing Sea. In this text, current threats Sea's natural environment measures that are taken protect described, in particular with view possible improvements. Particular emphasis will be placed on northernmost part sub-Arctic Bay Bothnia faces environmental challenges.
